We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on electro-mechanical engineer to work in our collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment in Cranberry Township, PA. You will blend your knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering to design custom product solutions that meet customer requirements for fixed gas and flame detection. In this multi-discipline engineering position, you will work as an important member of a cross-functional team while reporting to the Custom Products Manager. Description of duties and responsibilities:

  • Design application specific gas detection and control systems by integrating MSA standard fixed gas and flame detection products into a complete customer specific solution.

  • Compile system costing information through the specification of system components and required manufacturing resources.

  • Generate complete system documentation including bill of material, system drawings, test procedures and other documentation necessary to manufacture, install and operate.

  • Coordinate and prioritize work load while interfacing extensively with manufacturing, sales and marketing organizations, and with external customers.

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers on technical and non-technical matters

  • Experience with SAP Engineering and manufacturing document control or similar MRP type system

  • Creative problem-solving and a customer-based perspective

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid interpersonal skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically


  • Electrical and mechanical design experience

  • Understanding of network protocols and programmable controllers

  • Working knowledge of gas and liquid handling systems

  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code

  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical, or related discipline, preferably from an ABET-accredited program

  • This position is available at three different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:

  • Level one: no relevant experience

  • Level two: 2 years relevant experience

  • Level three: 3 years relevant experience

  • MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience
