ERM has an opportunity for an experienced market leader to join our global consulting firm as a Regional Chemical Sector Business Development Director. The role revolves around managing and expanding a network of client relationships and driving sales in the sector. As a growth agent to this important sector strategy, you will be a key member of our North American leadership team and will be offered an equity ownership stake. We are looking for a driven, passionate and confident client-facing leader. A successful candidate is someone who is additive to our thriving commercial leadership, a group of unique professionals with strong consulting skills and deep technical foundation. As part of this community, you would drive regional and global sales for key clients in the chemical sector by coaching and motivating a team of Account Directors (ADs), diversifying service offerings, and exploring demand themes relevant to the chemical sector (including but not limited to sustainability, product stewardship, supply chain management, data analytics to drive EHSS performance, and process safety management). RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with ERM s Regional CEO, Regional Commercial Director, Business Unit Managing Partners (BUMPs), Account Directors (ADs) and other Partner and Senior Sellers to drive growth with chemical sector key clients, including: Leadership of Account Directors and Client Strategy Focus on key account development and diversification. Drive sales and delivery of the full spectrum of our consulting services. Direct Chemical account teams in converting strategic opportunities. This includes: Accessing senior management in the target client organizations Identifying, coaching and developing the Account Directors and other senior members of the account teams Actively develop commercial strategies to pursue and win business opportunities that result in significant sales and revenue growth with key clients in the portfolio. Maintain a pulse on industry business cycles, understand emerging issues and be aware of industry precedents. Prioritize sales efforts toward high potential, large programmatic opportunities. Identify and share client / sector / competitor insights and trends (in North America and other regions) as well as large opportunities. Develop new client relationships and expand existing relationships by delivering consulting advice, excellent value and quality service. Management of Key Accounts in Sector Drive account planning, growth and development for designated key clients with multi $M sales targets in alignment with our strategy and business metrics. Drive execution of account plans to achieve the annual sales and growth targets. Provide value-added feedback to keep such plans relevant and updated. Build a reliable opportunity pipeline to achieve pipeline growth target and meet the annual sales budget. Deliver exceptional client value as measured by the client feedback process. Proactively engage key stakeholders (internal and external operational and commercial) to maintain alignment with overall business objectives and focus. Support Chemical account teams in developing and converting top opportunities by being active in the market. Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment. Coordinate and collaborate with the North America Commercial team (Strategic Initiative Leaders, ADs), Technical Community Leaders, BUMPs and Area Managers. Measuring Impact Achieve Chemical Portfolio and Key Account sales budget, profitability target, pipeline growth target, and proposal win rate target. Positive client feedback. Successful implementation of the ERM Way of Account Management that includes systematic use of tools, processes and methodologies. Leadership of Account Directors: successfully lead, mentor, direct and coach ADs. Successful implementation of the ERM Way of Account management within the sector. REQUIREMENTS: BS/MS in planning, engineering, safety, science, business or related degree. Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the consulting or regulatory environment. Experience in working closely with industrial clients and being aware of regulatory pressures and business imperatives, preferably within the chemical sector. Successful track record in forging relationships and doing business with the companies operating in the chemical industry, particularly with the ERM suite of key clients in the sector. Existing client relationships are a plus, as those could be leveraged into new risk management conversations. Business acumen to understand business risks and challenges. Demonstrable track record of delivering multi-million dollar sales results annually, including positioning for and securing large and strategic projects.
