We re looking to advance our capabilities for driving global storytelling and integrated communications across multiple stakeholders. The role will lead proactive programming primarily targeting external audiences with flexibility to support internal initiatives all while ensuring our metrics-driven results. The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications reports directly to the Senior Director, Corporate Communications.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance) As a member of our evolving Corporate Communications team, the Senior Manager is responsible for helping to build and drive more proactive, strategic positioning through positive storytelling to help shape the global reputation of the company Develop and implement a long-term thought leadership program to support Company growth areas and expertise Ensure consistency and continuity of top-down messaging and program support across the organization Focus on driving key narratives and identifying opportunities aligned with target global industry trends and growth areas in paid, earned and owned media channels Source, draft and distribute effective press releases, media statements, .com and social content, and supporting documents in line with the business strategic goals Proactively identify, source and manage strategic opportunities for executive and thought leader interviews and speaking engagements Manage PR agencies/partners to maximize strategic thinking as well as productivity Provide media training for leaders as needed Enable and deploy best practice communications efforts across the function Manage budgets guide agency spend, wire service expenses, and other related costs to ensure effectiveness Align outreach with our strategic business/functional goals and lead the evolution or expansion of existing communications programs Drive and refine KPIs/metrics to ensure program performance and constant improvement Effectively manage issues/crises for the company and/or its brands as needed Work closely with the functional team members (business partners/regional leads) on cross-discipline planning/program execution, story development and sharing, and employee engagement as appropriate Act as a spokesperson for the business when/if required
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications) BA/BS in Communications, Public Relations, Digital Communications or related discipline 10+ years of experience in a corporate and/or agency environment (preferably at/working with a global life sciences, manufacturing, technology or pharmaceutical business) Excellent media contacts with a proven history of top tier media placements Ability to interact with senior leadership on critical business issues
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently) Strong writing & editing skills a must with a focus on quality control Flexible with problem solving and analytical skills Committed to constant improvement and best practice Business acumen Knowledge and understanding of digital media platforms and online communities. Demonstrated creativity in developing and driving engaging digital content Enthusiasm for implementing new communications technologies and strategies Handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines Behaviors aligned with the Avantor Values
