Job Summary

The Manager (Training and Functions), Avantor Business Systems Office, is a new position. This leader will be responsible for leading the development, delivery, standardization and continuous improvement of all ABS related training materials. In addition, this person will also be responsible for the deployment of ABS with the functions (Finance, HR, etc.) and other support areas within Avantor.
The Avantor Business System will be an integral part of the way we run our business for the long-term. The Business System Office will focus on creating, supporting, and assisting the improvement efforts tied to the company s most critical business processes; primarily in the innovation, commercial, and operations functions. Through analyzing processes, diagnosing operational challenges, and implementing process changes, the Business System Office will drive continuous improvement and breakthrough performance ultimately shaping company culture and brand.
The goal is to positively impact results and culture by establishing standards, institutionalizing daily management processes, and adopting consistent problem-solving methods. Working with key leaders within the organization, this leader will build an action plan to identify opportunities and implement tools and processes such as; the strategy deployment process, tiered daily management process and A3 management and problem solving processes which will ultimately define the lean culture and activities. This will require significant change management to effectively embed throughout the growing organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop Avantor Business System and associated tools training content in collaboration with other experts within the organization using learn by doing as the fundamental pillar. Lead the deployment of training by creating a train the trainer model.
  • Architect ABS University to expand organizational learning and share transferable practices.
  • Implement the Business System including; daily management metrics, review and problem-solving cadence and agenda/format, process to address KPI and CVD (core value drivers); implementing lean tools and training programs to enable PSP/action planning within select functions.
  • Establish a lean deployment program which; ensures the application of globally recognized standards for lean principles and practices, serves as a benchmark for Avantor s achievements, provides a common roadmap for continuous improvement and workforce development
  • Develop capability across the spectrum from the tactical (deployment and application of principles, concepts and methods) to the strategic (a transformation that deeply impacts a key value stream)
  • Teaching, coaching and implementation of best in class lean tools and methodology (hands-on experience a must)

  • Technical Expertise - Possess the technical skills necessary to be credible; must have significant practitioner experience in Growth & Lean tools and processes
  • Communication - must be able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal forms, and courageously speak to all levels of the organization
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience in lean tools, development of training materials and training delivery
  • Demonstrated successful leadership and proficiency in building and implementing lean business system/practices for global manufacturing organization (in a variety of situations)
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on approach
  • Strong focus on customer and end user experience
  • Gains traction quickly, demonstrates ambition and high energy
  • Manages conflict
  • Independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever changing environment and able to effectively deal with difficult situations
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS or BA Degree; Master s Degree preferred
  • Minimum five years in a lean/operational leadership role
  • Extensive training and implementation experience in industry leading lean tools and practices
  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a general manager s perspective
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing process technologies
  • Excellent time and project management
  • Black Belt and experience hosting a Kaizen
